Karen Simmons is a single woman spending her Valentine’s Day evening with her best friend. Despite the revelry, her friend is ready to call it an early night. On this night made for couples, Karen pines for a love that doesn’t fade with the sunrise. Her decision to stay out proves fateful as she is found dead the following morning.

Kiki is a reporter looking into the circumstances of Karen’s death. Kiki had been previously acquainted with Karen as she had interviewed her for a story about a singles group Karen had formed. Karen’s death may hold the key to Kiki covering harder news stories.

Detective Elise King has been assigned the Simmons case but the case possesses the hallmarks of a whodunit as motive and prime suspects prove elusive. Annie Curtis is a wife and mother who knows tragedy all too well and Karen’s death forces her to revisit grief that never waned. <br.
Author Fiona Barton (Local Gone Missing) splendidly devises a murder mystery that ensnares the lives of three women whose complex worlds grow further complicated with each fact unearthed. The turmoil that develops throughout the narrative is gripping and pulls the reader in and leads to a breathtaking conclusion.
