I’m Not the Only Murderer in My Retirement Home
Carol gets to trade in her prison cell for a retirement home, where she’s hoping to put her serial killer ways in the past. All she wants is to start over with some new friends and a hobby that isn’t murder. She wants to turn over a new leaf, but that won’t be easy after the death of a resident. It doesn’t help that the resident used to be a police commissioner. Now her identity has been outed, her relationships have become awkward, and everyone seems to believe she’s the guilty party.
The mystery sets the perfect stage for unexpected comedy, with the lovable sleuth being a retired serial killer. Craig knows how to turn dark humor light, with engaging prose and upbeat characters. Even Carol has a sweet, almost grandmotherly vibe about her, despite her being open about her deadly past. The mystery explores her trying to acclimate to the new environment while trying to be herself with new friends. The theme of friendship and accepting our quirks – even if they’re murderous – is explored through the different dynamics Carol has with the residents. I’m Not The Only Murderer in my Retirement Home is comedic and fun with a unique approach to a lighthearted mystery, a serial killer sleuth, and writing that will make you enjoy every page.
