The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s Easter Day
No children’s library is complete without a copy of Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I was so excited to receive a copy of the new World of Eric Carle book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s Easter Day. This is a hardbound book perfect for chubby fingers. The cover has a large colorful Easter egg on it with the caterpillar, a duckling, and a butterfly, as well as some spring flowers. The book starts with a sunny Easter day. The caterpillar sits on a leaf. Next, we meet the singing birds nestled in the trees. The bees and ladybugs are up next, as are the Easter tulips. As all of the friends gather for a picnic, they see an abundant basket full of goodies. But there is also a surprise underneath! In true Eric Carle fashion, the illustrations are brilliant and happy on each page. Small children will love this book and the surprise at the end. I would recommend this book to children under five years old as it is only a few pages long.
