The Devil in the Details: A Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery
Another twisty edition of the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop mystery series. Gemma Doyle is excited to help her best friend Jayne prepare for her upcoming wedding to local restaurateur Andy. Trouble follows Gemma to a prewedding birthday celebration for Jayne at Andy’s restaurant, where uninvited guests and an unexpected death cause some drama. Gemma is determined not to let this turn of events affect Jayne’s wedding and decides to get to the bottom of it with her keen observations and typical pushy style.
I really enjoyed this novel. I love the characters and descriptions of the small tourist town on Cape Cod. You do not need to be a fan of Sherlock Holmes to enjoy this series. There is a little bit of a slow burn in the beginning, which I love. I also love that you do not have to read this series in order. I have read several out of order and never have been lost, which to me is the sign of a well-written series. If you like cozy mysteries with vibrant characters and a twisty, unpredictable plot, then I would highly recommend this series!
