The Bush Tea Murder

Food writer Naomi Sinclair has traveled back to her hometown of St. Thomas, VI, to investigate the murder of a former tea seller, Ursula Merchant. Her job stateside has kept her away from family and friends for years. Now she has a chance to reconnect with an old flame, Matteo, and see how her father is coping with age and illness. And while she tries to savor the taste of home through mouthwatering dishes and the sense of community she’s missed while in the U.S., she’s still sure she can unmask the killer who has been hiding in their mists.

The Bush Tea Murder is full of Caribbean food and culture, making this book feel inviting and cozy. I like the characters and the tropical setting. However, for me, the story moved a little too slowly. I also wasn’t a fan of the structure, which had the story moving back and forth from the U.S. to the island. Nevertheless, there are some pearls of wisdom in this one, and if you like your mysteries served with family drama, you will probably want to read this one.
