Sexy Life, Hello
Every once in a while, a book comes along that makes you snort-laugh in public, blush furiously, and—most importantly—leave you wanting more. Michelle Kicherer’s Sexy Life, Hello is one of those books.
From the first page, Kicherer reels you with razor-sharp wit and deliciously unfiltered storytelling. We follow Jane, a former teacher whose life takes a wild turn when she finds herself juggling two unexpected gigs: nannying twin toddlers and ghost-sexting for a famous porn star. (Yes, you read that right!) The result? A whirlwind of absurdity, raunchy hilarity, and some surprisingly deep observations about celebrity culture, reinvention, and the strange, unexpected places life can take us.
What makes Sexy Life, Hello so utterly irresistible is Kicherer’s voice. It’s smart, edgy, and wildly entertaining. She writes with a kind of effortless cool, blending laugh-out-loud comedy with biting social commentary. One moment, you’re giggling at Jane’s outrageous sexting scenarios (which, trust me, you won’t be able to unsee), and the next, you’re struck by a poignant reflection on societal expectations, financial desperation, and the strange economy of intimacy in the digital age.
And let’s talk about the characters—Jane is the kind of heroine you can’t help but root for. She’s messy, sarcastic, and a little lost, but there’s an undeniable charm to her misadventures. Watching her navigate the chaos of nannying and dirty-talking is both ridiculous and weirdly relatable (who among us hasn’t taken an odd job or two to pay the bills?).
Kicherer’s writing is refreshingly bold—never afraid to push boundaries but always with a wink and a knowing nudge. There’s a sharp critique here about the way we consume and commodify sexuality, but it’s woven so seamlessly into the comedy that it never feels heavy-handed. Instead, it feels like you’re sitting down with your most outrageous friend, swapping scandalous stories over a few too many cocktails.
By the time I reached the last page, I wasn’t ready to say goodbye. I need more Jane, more of Kicherer’s dark humor, more of her deliciously twisted take on modern life. Please, Michelle Kicherer—tell me there’s a sequel in the works! Because Sexy Life, Hello isn’t just a book you read. It’s a book you experience, one that lingers long after you’ve put it down. And I, for one, am already craving the next round.
Highly recommended for anyone who loves their comedy with a little filth, a lot of heart, and a generous dose of WTF did I just read?
