Ruthless is another fascinating thriller by Anne Mette Hancock. Hancock writes her books in a way that the plot slowly develops with the reader begging for more chapter after chapter. In Ruthless journalist Heloise Kaldan is at it again when she tries to gain closure for an elderly man named Jan whom she has gotten close to in his time of illness which will soon lead to death. With the help of her police confidant, Erik Schäfer, she uncovers some deep-seated secrets that never surfaced during the original investigation of two missing women. With only the clues that Jan has given her, Heloise is determined to find out Jan’s part in all of it. Heloise is the perfect main character with enough grit and grace to get her way, even if it means having to get out of dangerous situations. The twist at the end of the book is unbelievable and readers will gasp when everything is revealed. Full of suspense and action, this is a must-read for fans of Harlan Coben and Chevy Stevens.
