Weeks away from her wedding, Piglet learns that her fiancé, Kit, has been hiding a secret. It threatens to ruin their impending marriage, but Piglet isn’t ready to let go of her vision of the perfect future. She is an editor at a cookbook publisher and loves the process of creating beautiful and delicious dishes in her home kitchen. She is a foodie, yet has a complicated relationship with food, often going on binges. Food is Piglet’s comfort, and one thing she feels that she can control.

This book is a food lover’s dream, with its mouthwatering descriptions of Piglet’s meals and top-shelf ingredients. At the beginning, Kit and Piglet’s relationship is enviable, yet it soon becomes messy and chaotic. Watching Piglet react to Kit’s deception made me uncomfortable, yet I couldn’t look away.

Lottie Hazel is a talented writer, and crafted an exquisite story. I wished that Kit’s mistake was revealed and felt a little gypped that we were kept in the dark. I also wish that Franny and Piglet’s childhood relationship was explored in more depth. Although I was on edge for most of the book, I was engrossed in the story!
