My Momo-la Is a Museum
A little girl and her grandmother, Momo-la, hold a special place in their hearts for each other. When Momo-la comes to visit, she shares her life stories and her precious collectibles with her granddaughter. When she asks Momo-la from where all her stories come, she offers to show her. They walk through the city, taking notice of everyday things from wormholes to wildflowers. They explore the Museum of Ancient History and all its amazing artifacts. Then, they journey through a plethora of other museums, and there’s something in each of them that reminds her of Momo-la, though perhaps her most-beloved museum is standing right in front of her.
My Momo-la Is a Museum is about culture, love, family, and treasures. In the back matter of the book, the author shares her own story: “When I was little, my grandmother had a small wooden box that she carried with her…” She elucidates how these sacred objects helped bring her memories to life – to hold onto forever. Young children, ages five to nine, who are refugees or have simply traveled to other homelands will especially appreciate this story. It’s heartfelt and will make a perfect addition to elementary school libraries and classrooms.
