Murder at Blackwood Inn: A Haunted Dead and Breakfast Mystery
A quaint seaside town, a possibly haunted bed and breakfast, and murder. What’s not to like? After a traumatic breakup, Carissa Blackwood has no other choice but to move in with her aunts and help them open the Blackwood Bed and Breakfast Inn. After seeing their spooky, but not too spooky, themed inn, she played along with her eccentric aunts’ belief in the supernatural, thinking it was just part of the guest experience. They invited some of their neighbors for a meet and greet before the opening, which didn’t go as expected. The next day, one of the party attendees is found dead, and her Aunts are suspects. Determined to clear their names, Carissa starts asking questions and finds out everyone has a secret.
This is a delightful cozy mystery with quirky characters and a spooky vibe perfect for a Fall read. The beginning grabbed me right from the start, the middle has a bit of a slowdown where I was wishing for more mystery reveals, but the characters were likable and the mystery was well thought out. Some of the dialogue I found repetitive, but overall I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good cozy.
