Mountains Made of Glass (Fairy Tale Retelling, 1)
In the land of Elk, curses abound. Having been ostracized for her drop of Fae blood, Gesela ekes out an existence in a small cottage along the Enchanted wood. When a curse befalls the town’s well, the Sheriff selects Gesela to kill the toad responsible and restore the water. While attempting to skirt the curse and save the toad, she inadvertently kills one of the seven Fae princes. As punishment, she’s transported to the enchanted castle of the seventh brother to serve her sentence. True to all curses, there is a loop hole based on lessons learned and truths uncovered. The question then becomes, what will these vicious creatures chose if their freedom is on the table?
A decadently dark fairytale retelling taking inspiration from classic Grimm tales and Irish folk lore. In lieu of a heroic prince and whimsical fairy godmother, we find ourselves with vengeful sprites and a cadre of villainous Fae bothers vying for a powerful crown. The sprinkling of well-known tales evokes a warm nostalgia juxtaposed with the noir and at times gruesome tone. This creates interesting and unexpected tension as you slowly love to hate these morally gray characters.
