For a Lifetime: (An Inspirational Historical Time-Travel Romance Novel) (Timeless)
Grace and Hope are twins with a fantastic ability: each night, their consciousnesses are able to shift back and forth between two lives. They live double lives, alternating between 1692 and 1912, but when they turn twenty-five, they will have to choose one to live in forever. Of course, both of them want to choose 1912, but until then, they will have to struggle through the Salem Witch Trials.
The premise of the book intrigued me greatly, and I dove right in, not realizing it was the latest in a series. It more or less stands on its own, and the parts that refer to the previous two books don’t leave me baffled by what I don’t know. If anything, they intrigue me, and I know I’ll look for the rest of the series (and the upcoming fourth book) at some point.
I could not have been happier with this book. The characters are delightfully fleshed out; the plot, romance, and religious themes are well-balanced; and both storylines are equally compelling. It would be easy to let the trials overshadow a quest to save an orphanage, but Meyer does an excellent job showing the stakes of both. I highly recommend this book.
