Dead Fake: A Bleak Haven Novel
Ava’s unwanted claim to fame stems from the horrific murders committed by her uncle several years ago. However, that’s not the only blemish on Bleak Haven’s past. When a QR code shows up on a bulletin board at school asking users, “Are you ready to be murdered?” many of her classmates jump right in, though Ava refuses—she has enough to deal with. Videos start popping up with the deepfake deaths of her classmates, and Ava is concerned. When one of her good friends dies in a manner eerily similar to the video of his death, Ava knows something rotten is happening in Bleak Haven. She has to discover who is behind the dead fakes before another student dies, and she gets caught in the crosshairs.
The dark use of AI and Ava’s history combine to make a deadly game, and questions from the past will come back to haunt her. The beautiful cover fully delivers on a story that is the best combination of slasher horror and whodunit mystery. The first delicious murder mystery in a series, this one delivers twists and a villain that is unbelievable and unexpected.
