Countdown: Amy Cornwall Is Patterson’s Greatest Character Since Lindsay Boxer
Another fantastic thriller by James Patterson and Brendan DuBois, Countdown stars Ex-Army Captain Amy Cornwall from the duo’s 2019 thriller, The Cornwalls Are Gone. In this book, Amy is working for the CIA’s highly classified Special Activities Division. When a mission goes awry and her British MI6 counterparts are ambushed, Amy stays behind to save them. Little does she know, one of the men, Jeremy, had plans of his own that could be labeled as a missions of part revenge and part save thousands of people from dying. As Amy and Jeremy work together to find terrorist Rashad Hussein, they are laden with obstacles including Amy being smoked by the CIA.
The action in this book is unbeatable and the characters are all badass. Amy is smart, smart-mouthed, and one tough lady. Her Army skills and comrades come in handy as she and Jeremy try to stop Hussein from his evil plan. Fans of Patterson will love this exciting storyline with several twists and turns. Add in DuBois’ careful attention to detail regarding trains and weaponry, and you have yourself the perfect action thriller.
