Batgirls 2: Bat Girl Summer
It’s summer time in Gotham, but that doesn’t keep the Villains at bay! The Batgirls, Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown under the guidance of Barbara Gordon – the first Batgirl!- have their work cut out for them as they track down a ruthless killer. But with the clock tower still in shambles and their reputation just as damaged, the girls have their work cut out for them. It doesn’t help that their main suspect is one of Gotham’s worst and well known villains!
With bright and bold colors the second volume of Batgirls continues the story from the first volume, but having never read the first one I can say you can jump right in with this volume. Everything important is explained. The plot itself is good, it finishes off one mystery, but starts another that continues into the next volume, leaving me at the edge of my seat. Almost all the main characters are recognizable women from the Batman universe that are rounded out and developed. In fact the only guys besides villains are a police officer and Dick Grayson, who’s brief appearances have nothing to do with being a hero.
