Meet Lalla Rook, who is definitely a sociopath. Lalla has a lot on her plate right now as she’s trying to get her daughter into the most prestigious school in London, secure her dream home in the impressive neighborhood in Hampstead, and get her husband to make partner at his firm. Things get more complicated when an intruder attacks her and now Lalla has to add getting rid of a dead body to her to-do list. In A Sociopath’s Guide to a Successful Marriage, the first step is knowing how far you’ll go to get everything you want, no matter what stands in your way.

You really want to dislike Lalla, as she is devious and scheming and a bit murderous. However, you can’t help but cheer her on as she knows what she wants and goes for it. And let’s be honest, no one’s really blameless here. It’s not like she goes around killing innocent people. Lalla could definitely be a better person, but she’s always wired differently than everyone else and isn’t doing terribly, all things considered. If you enjoy dark humor, then I would recommend this book.
