The Good Vampire’s Guide to Blood & Boyfriends
Brennan was barely succeeding at life, especially following the suicide attempt, but now things have changed for the worse. He’s a vampire. He woke up after being hit by a car and has no idea how to function in this new form. He’s surviving on squirrels and online research while falling for the cute Library Guy, Cole. When Cole catches him draining a blood bag stolen from the university, Brennan is terrified, but Cole listens and offers help. Soon after, Brennan meets Nellie and Sunny, who support vampires in their area and offer pamphlets to learn about his new life. When the vampires learn that one of their own is out to reveal the existence of vampires to the humans in a bloodbath event, they have to band together, human and vampire alike, to stop the threat.
Awesome. Amazing. Completely adorable. The banter is witty, the relationship between Cole and Brennan swoonworthy, and the bond between friends, new and old, unbreakable. This queer romance mixes several delightful references, hidden and otherwise, to Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series with a few well-timed bookish library puns. There’s just so much to love in this vampy rom-com.
