Theodora Scott met Connor Dalton six months ago and now they’re engaged. Connor brings Theo for Christmas at his wealthy family winter retreat, Idlewood. Theo has been trying to ignore the messages she’s been receiving about staying away from Connor, but things really come to a head when Theo realizes that she’s been to Idlewood before, when she was a child. She has no memory of her childhood, but things are starting to come back. Theo is in danger not only from the weather and A Killing Cold, but also from this affluent family who will stop at nothing to keep every secret buried.

While there is nothing jaw-dropping here and the characters aren’t complex, the author does a great job writing suspenseful chapters full of mystery. It ends pretty much like you would expect it to, but the plot is intricate and the reasons why turn out differently than you think. The story itself is dark and doesn’t do anything for how the rest of us typically think rich people are. Fans of J.T. Ellison will enjoy this story as both authors seem to get how messed up families can be and how far we’ll go to protect them.
