Ruined
Catherine Benson lost her virtue, and she is the talk of the town. Her father brokered a deal and now she is to be married off to Andrew Devener. Andrew’s family is in financial trouble so he agrees to marry Catherine for her dowry. The two have much to lose and the marriage offers them a solution. Will the arranged marriage work out or will their past get in the way of it all?
This is the first time I’ve read a Regency graphic novel. Billed for Bridgerton fans, this story was a classic Regency drama with a female protagonist and mysterious brooding male love interest who are an unlikely couple but circumstances force them together. Neither of the main characters are likable and dynamic. I found the characters, especially Catherine, to be rather annoying. Throughout the entire story, she is constantly sad and lacks self-confidence. Andrew has a constant scowl on his face the whole time.
The art isn’t as opulent and fanciful as I would hope for a Regency period. The illustrations felt rather flat. Despite this, I would still recommend this to anyone who likes a Regency-era romance story.
